Artist Statement

Ms Jakes is a painter and printmaker from Northern Virginia. After receiving her BFA from the Corcoran College of Art and Design, Carolee set up Dead Run Studio in McLean, Virginia. Her current work combines printing and painting techiques and explores the visual continuum between representation and abstraction. Carolee’s work can be found in the collections of the Pew Charitable Trust and the National Gallery of Art, Corcoran Collection, as well as private collections in the United States and Greece. Ms Jakes currently teaches art at the Washington Waldorf School in Bethesda, Maryland.
