SUZANNE GOLDBERG
Artist Statement
My work expresses the joy and passion I feel when engaged in art, which, for me, has been a liberation, allowing me to discover, uncensored, what lies inside. It replicates what I, as a practicing clinical psychologist, try to encourage in my patients: a trust in oneself and one's inner nature, but never without an internalized discipline that is conscious of form and structure.
I work with line, color, and texture -- playing them against each other, or complementing one another -- experimenting with their interactions. Sometimes my subject is the landscape; sometimes abstract forms, taken from the figure, or from my imagination.
